The cost of routine eye exams and prescription eyewear can be of real concern, especially for large families who require vision correction. In some cases, vision insurance can lower these annual expenses. In other cases, vision insurance and the associated premiums, copays, non-covered services, and "discounts" may actually be more expensive than just paying for a routine eye exam out of pocket every year. We encourage you to read and understand your policy and would be happy to assist you.
A vision insurance policy is not the same as health or medical insurance. Health insurance plans protect you against financial losses due to unexpected eye injuries or disease. Vision insurance, on the other hand, is a wellness benefit designed to provide routine eye care, prescription eyewear and other routine vision-related services or materials. Sometimes a vision insurance policy may be offered in conjunction with your health insurance policy, many times for an additional fee. Vision insurance policies are completely separate from health insurance policies and may be administered through completely separate insurance companies even if they are bought together.
Because we provide both medical and routine eye care, we accept a number of insurance plans to help cover the cost depending on your individual needs. Here are just some of the plans that we accept:
Medical Plans we Accept
Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medicare, United HealthCare, Medicaid, Anthem, Optima
Vision Plans we Accept
EyeMed, VSP (out-of-network), Spectera, Davis, NVA, Avesis
As you can imagine, insurance plans are constantly changing, and each insurance company listed above may offer tens if not hundreds of different plans each with different requirements and coverage benefits. We strive to keep abreast. So if you do not see your plan listed here, please give us a call and we would be happy to assist you. Our staff is always available to answer any questions regarding your benefits.
